Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park
Scotland's first national park, created in 2002, spanning 1,865 square kilometres of the southern Highlands where the Lowland farmland gives way to hill ground. Loch Lomond covers 71 square kilometres, the largest freshwater surface area in Great Britain, and contains 38 named islands. The park is the most accessible Highland landscape from Glasgow, which shapes both the traffic on the loch and the pressure on the lochside paths.
