La Casa del Abuelo

The youngest of the centenary group, dating from 1906 on the bullfighting Calle de la Victoria. It is a one-idea bar in the best sense: prawns, grilled or in garlic, taken with the house sweet red wine, which is how the place taught generations what a Madrid tapa is. Andy Warhol is reported to have stood at this counter on his visits to the city.
