Pont Royal

The third oldest of the Paris bridges, with five elliptical arches, it replaced a ferry that had served the crossing since the mid-1500s. The first structure was a wooden toll bridge known as the Pont Sainte-Anne or Pont Rouge, rebuilt in 1660 after fires and floods and replaced in stone in 1689, when Louis XIV gave it the name it still carries.
