Pont des Arts

Built from 1802 between the Louvre, then called the Palais des Arts, and the Institut de France, it was the first metal bridge in Paris, and pedestrians paid a small charge to cross. Both world wars and repeated boat collisions damaged it, and it was closed in the late 1970s; the near-identical replica standing today was completed in 1984. It has been a listed monument since 17 March 1975, and love locks were banned in 2015 because of their weight.
