Pont du Carrousel

Antoine-Rémy Polonceau's original arch bridge between the Quai des Tuileries and the Quai Voltaire was one of the early Paris uses of cast iron, with stone figures by Louis Petitot representing Industry, Abundance and the City of Paris. Judged too narrow for modern traffic and too low for river traffic, it was entirely rebuilt in 1930 by the architects Malet and Lang and shifted a few metres downstream, so that the crossing now lines up with the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel.
