Pont Alexandre III

Its first stone was laid by Tsar Nicholas II in 1896 and the 152-metre single-span bridge was inaugurated for the 1900 Exposition Universelle, the same fair that opened the Paris metro. In 2024 it carried four Olympic and Paralympic events: the road cycling individual time trial finish, marathon swimming, triathlon and para triathlon, with temporary stands built alongside and dismantled afterwards. The nearest rail access for the triathlon was the RER C at Pont de l'Alma, roughly 800 metres away.
