Somorrostro

Roughly 522 metres running from the Gas breakwater to the Marina quay, directly in front of the Hospital del Mar. Until 1966 the shanty settlement that gives the beach its name stood here; the stretch was formally renamed in 2011, having been counted as part of Barceloneta until then. It is on the weekly water and sand sampling round, and its northern end is one of the reserves the city draws on when Barceloneta needs replenishing.
