Café Kafka

Café Fuchs held this address from 1908 and drew stage actors; the renaming to Kafka came in 2001, and the timbers and the reputation carried over. It is essentially one tall room with a large glass front, which makes it among the smallest of Vienna's classic Kaffeehäuser, a few minutes from Mariahilfer Straße and nothing like it in temper. The kitchen keeps vegetarian dishes on the menu, and the door opens at eight in the morning; there is a step and no wheelchair access.
