Praia do Pontal

Also listed as Praia do Pontal de Sernambetiba, this beach sits at the far western end of the Barra shoreline route. Past Nelson Mandela Park, the last 5 km to Pontal follow a waterfront path. Before that, the route runs 6 km on a sidewalk on the inland side of Av. Lúcio Costa. A public live webcam points at the beach, so you can check conditions before the long trip out.
