Copacabana Beach

A 4 km crescent facing the open Atlantic, with a paved beachfront path along its full length and hotels across the avenue. On Sundays the road beside the beach closes to traffic. Swimming is possible, but currents can be strong, so swim near a lifeguard post. It hosted the 2014 World Cup fan zone and the 2016 Olympic beach volleyball.
