Bondi Icebergs

Eight lanes and 50 metres cut into the rock at the southern end of Bondi, with waves breaking over the sea wall to refresh the water. Swimming here dates to 1929, and on the opening day of the winter season the club throws ice into the pool; full club membership takes swimming three Sundays in four from May to September for five years. Entry is around AU$10 for adults, and the pool is heated in winter. It closes one day a week for cleaning, and published guides disagree on whether that is Tuesday or Thursday, so confirm before making the trip.
