Amélie's mother dies in the film when a suicidal Canadian tourist jumps from the cathedral roof and lands on her, a scene Jeunet drew from an actual 1983 death at Notre-Dame with the nationalities swapped: there it was the Canadian who was killed. The cathedral reopened after the 2019 fire, but the roofline of the film is not the roofline standing today. The pin marks the gift shop trading under the cathedral's name.
