Putney Bridge
A stone arch bridge replacing the earlier Fulham Bridge of 1729, and the downstream limit of the Thames towpath. With Hammersmith Bridge shut to motor vehicles for seven years and Albert Bridge closed since February 2026, thousands of extra vehicles a day have been pushed onto it: Putney.news reports the bridge now carries 16% more traffic than in 2020. Stone is not cast iron, which matters, but the bridge is 140 years old and no public record exists of when it was last structurally inspected.
