Kew Bridge
A stone arch road bridge opened in 1903 at a crossing point old enough to have shaped the next bridge downstream: the Hammersmith Bridge Company was formed in 1824 because local people were tired of detouring to Kew or Putney to cross the river. The Hammersmith Bridge Act received assent on 9 June 1824 and work began the following year. Kew's own span has carried road traffic without interruption since 1903.
