Pont de Bir-Hakeim

Jean-Camille Formigé's steel bridge was built between 1903 and 1905 across the Île aux Cygnes, replacing a crossing of 1878, and is arranged on two levels: road and pavement below, metro line 6 above. Four stone statues represent science, labour, electricity and commerce. The name commemorates the 1942 Battle of Bir Hakeim.
