Gare Saint-Lazare

The oldest of the big Paris stations, opened in 1837 as a wooden shed, and second busiest today: Intercités to Rouen, Caen and Cherbourg along the Paris-Le Havre line, plus Transilien services into the western suburbs. Around 75 shops and food courts fill the passenger hall, and Boulevard Haussmann's department stores are a short walk. Manet and Monet painted it, Zola put it in La Bête Humaine. The bus stop on the rue d'Amsterdam side is lit, sheltered and benched and is recorded step-free; there is no bin.
