Gare de l'Est

Eastern France and Germany from one of the oldest station buildings still in use, opened in 1849 and carrying sculptures of Strasbourg and Verdun on its front: TGV Est to Nancy, Strasbourg, Metz and Reims, ICE to Stuttgart and Frankfurt, plus Luxembourg and Transilien P. The first Orient Express left here in 1883. Ten minutes on foot from Gare du Nord, which is usually quicker than changing trains for it, and services run to boutiques, a Marks & Spencer Food, left luggage and currency exchange. A renovation of roughly 2.5 km of track infrastructure starts in 2025, so expect works signage on the approaches.
