Palácio da Alvorada

Designed in 1957 as the residence of the President of Brazil and finished before the capital was formally inaugurated, which makes it the earliest of the permanent government buildings. The three floors sit barely ten metres above the ground, so the tapered marble colonnade that wraps the glazed front does most of the visual work. It remains a working residence and is recorded as closed to public access.
