Instituto Central de Ciências

The main teaching building of the University of Brasília, designed in 1962 and built from 1963 as a single curved slab running most of a kilometre along the Darcy Ribeiro campus. Students named it the Minhocão, the big worm, and the nickname is used more often than the official one. Nearly every undergraduate faculty passes through it, which was the point: one structure, no separate departmental buildings.
