Barbican Library

No membership, no registration, no card: this is a City of London public lending library and you walk in. It sits on level 1 of the Barbican Centre, so the way in is through the Centre rather than off Silk Street directly, and the brutalist section makes it one of the quieter rooms in the complex. Quiet reading and study areas, public computers and free WiFi are all included in walking through the door.
