Montrose Beach

The lakefront's most equipped beach: the largest parking supply of any in the city, one of the few places where non-motorized craft such as kayaks and catamarans may be launched, and one of only two Park District dog beaches, fenced off at the north end where dogs run leashless. Surfing is allowed in season alongside 57th Street, outside the active swim areas. The beach house, modelled on North Avenue's and designed by E.V. Buchsbaum, carries a 3,000 square foot patio deck and a full-service restaurant, and a beach wheelchair can be borrowed from the lifeguard office.
