Schwetzingen Palace & Gardens
The 18th-century garden design survives largely as laid out, with more than 60 statues, busts and fountains of that century on the grounds, most of them copies whose originals sit partly in the Orangery lapidarium. Richard Benz argued that the park's artificial ruins were what turned 18th-century poets toward the real ruin at Heidelberg. The gardens are operated by the Staatliche Schlösser und Gärten, admission is charged, and closing time moves with the season.
