Ludwigsburg Residential Palace

The state administration calls it one of the largest Baroque buildings in Europe to survive in its original condition. It grew out of the Erlachhof hunting estate, which the Edict of Restitution of 1629 helped claw back for Catholic monks from Bebenhausen, ending ducal hunts there; imperial Habsburg troops plundered and burned the site on 19 October 1634, leaving a barn, the stables and the cellar. The Ludwigsburg palace administration now also covers Favorite, Solitude, the sepulchral chapel on the Württemberg, Lorch monastery, Wäscherschloss and Hohenstaufen.
