Schloss Mannheim
Former residence of the Electors Palatine, a Baroque three-wing complex begun in 1720 for Karl Philipp to designs by Jean Clemens Froimont. The state administration puts the show front at more than 400 metres and counts it among the largest palaces in Europe; the court left it for Schwetzingen each summer. Much of the building is now in university use, and the Mannheim palace administration is responsible for the monument.
