Typhoon Nangka (2015)
The storm moved through the Northern Mariana Islands, passing directly over the uninhabited island of Alamagan, then curved north and weakened. It crossed the western end of Japan's largest main island on 16 July as a minimal typhoon, snarling transport and prompting authorities to advise nearly 100,000 people to evacuate. By that Friday morning it had been downgraded to a tropical storm but still carried sustained winds of 80 km/h with gusts to 120 km/h, and it injured 55 people and damaged or flooded 220 houses.
