Taal, 1965
A moderately violent phreatomagmatic explosive eruption took place on Volcano Island in Lake Taal, Philippines, over three days at the end of September. The main phreatic explosions were preceded by the ejection of basaltic spatter, and they opened a new crater on the southwest side of the island measuring 1.5 km long and 0.3 km wide.
