Augustine, 1986
An explosive eruption with a plume reaching 3 km was observed on 17 February, and from 27 to 31 March large explosions sent clouds into the stratosphere and drove pyroclastic flows to the sea. Ashfall around Cook Inlet peaked at Homer with 6 mm, and on 28 March Anchorage International Airport handled 16 flights where it would ordinarily have handled 300. Accelerated dome growth on 30 and 31 August increased pyroclastic flow activity, with flows travelling up to 2.2 km down the north flank. The catalogue marks the eruption's index as uncertain.
