1965 Yate volcano landslide
Unusually heavy summer rains loosened a non-eruptive mass of ice and rock on Yate, a large glaciated stratovolcano in the southern Andes of Chile's Los Lagos Region, south of the Reloncaví Estuary. The slide ran into a narrow gully, descended around 1,500 metres in elevation and crashed into Lake Cabrera below, raising a wave on the lake.
