Mark Hopkins

The 1926 hotel on the Nob Hill lot where Mark Hopkins's mansion burned in 1906, named in dialogue early in the film and barely visible in the background of the surveillance scenes shot around the Brocklebank and Grace Cathedral. Hitchcock himself stayed across the street at the Fairmont, where much of the cast and crew were put up during the location shoot.
