Brocklebank Apartments

Weeks & Day put up this ten-storey block on the summit of Nob Hill in 1925, and its entrance court with the heavy flanking lamps is what the film uses: Scottie sits in the DeSoto and waits for Madeleine's car to come out of it. The 277-room building was still an apartment hotel then, and later did service in The Woman in Red and the television Tales of the City. The court is visible from the sidewalk on Mason Street; the building itself remains private.
