Coast to Coast Path
The route starts at St Bees in Cumbria and ends at Robin Hood's Bay on the east coast, crossing the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors national parks with about 7,450 metres of ascent. It was devised by Alfred Wainwright in his 1973 book A Coast to Coast Walk and has since been altered to reflect rights of way. It draws around 10,000 walkers a year.
