New Zealand's Great Walks

Map of 5 locations in New Zealand

The Department of Conservation designates a small set of New Zealand tramping tracks for maintenance to a higher standard than the rest of the network, with huts and campsites along them that have to be booked. They cross national parks and reserves on both main islands, from coastal forest to alpine passes. The earliest of them were given the designation in 1992, and the newest was built decades later. The set follows the list of New Zealand Great Walks on English Wikipedia, transcribed by hand; the lines are OpenStreetMap's and the dates and lengths are the cited pages'.
