Speicherbecken Witznitz
The earliest water in the register, impounded in 1954 while the lignite industry around it was still expanding, and listed at 236 hectares with its use given plainly as a storage reservoir. OpenStreetMap tags it as a retention basin rather than a lake, on a former quarry, with lignite as the old resource. Angling directories cover it; the leisure programme that reshaped the pits to the north never reached it.
