Charles Bridge

Charles IV laid the foundation stone in 1357 for a replacement to the Judith Bridge, which floods had destroyed; work continued until 1402. The crossing runs 516m on 16 arches, 13.4m wide, carrying thirty statues added later along its parapets. It remains the pedestrian route between the Old Town and the Lesser Town below Prague Castle.
