Braník Bridge

A double-track freight railway bridge begun in 1949 and finished in 1955, 910m long and 14m wide, linking the Smíchov and Vršovice railway networks. It is known as the Bridge of the Intelligentsia because much of the labour came from professionals pushed into manual work after the 1948 communist takeover. The nickname, not an official name, is still the one most often used for it.
