Passage des Panoramas

The oldest of the surviving passages, opened at the turn of 1799 to 1800 and named for the two rotundas of panoramic city paintings that once flanked it and have long since gone. The glass canopy and the ornate ironwork carrying it date from the original build. Émile Zola put the passage into Nana, which is part of why its 19th-century character was defended when neighbouring arcades were cleared.
