Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara

The garden terrace stands at the top station of the Elevador da Glória, the 1885 funicular from Restauradores, so the 60-odd metres of hill can be bought rather than walked. Its recorded view bearing is 70 degrees, which takes in Avenida da Liberdade, Restauradores and Baixa before landing on the castle hill directly opposite. Fountains, benches and seasonal stalls make it somewhere to sit rather than photograph and leave, and Rossio is about ten minutes downhill on foot.
