Royal Birkdale Golf Club

Ten Opens have been played over these links, the most recent in 2017, and the championship returns in 2026 following a round of course changes. The clubhouse and course sit off Waterloo Road on the Southport dune coast, with the club's own count running to eleven stagings since 1954. Records held here are among the most contested on the rota because the sandhills frame nearly every fairway.
