Muirfield

Sixteen Opens, more than any other venue, the last in 2013 when Phil Mickelson won on a course of eighteen holes at par 70. The layout began with Old Tom Morris in 1891 and was reworked in turn by Harry Colt, Tom Simpson and Martin Hawtree, reaching 7,245 yards with Tom Watson's 271 as the record. A return is complicated by the Genesis Scottish Open being contracted nearby until 2030, the week before The Open itself.
