Kōdai-ji

The evening viewing here is not only lanterns in the trees: projection art is thrown across the raked sand of the dry garden and up into the canopies. It runs the longest window of the eastern Higashiyama temples, a full month bridging mid-November to mid-December, and closes at 21:30, later than its neighbours. Earlier entry slots, right at opening, are the ones that avoid the queue.
