Kiyomizu-dera

About 1,000 Japanese maples cover the hillside below the temple, and the night ticket puts you on the wooden stage above them with the city laid out beyond. The autumn evening opening runs a narrow late-November window, shorter than most of the other Kyoto light-ups, and the night fee is among the cheapest of the marquee sites. Sources differ on the exact evening hours, with one giving 18:00–21:30 rather than the more commonly listed 17:30.
