Secret Lagoon

Iceland's oldest swimming pool, in use since 1891 and known to Icelanders for most of that time simply as Gamla Laugin, the old pool. The water sits between 38 and 40 degrees year round, and the ground around the rim is live: bubbling springs, steaming fumaroles and a small geyser that goes off every few minutes. It is near Flúðir, close enough to the Golden Circle to be a normal stop on that loop, and admission is worth booking ahead.
