Kernkraftwerk Stade
A first-generation Siemens-KWU pressurised water reactor of 672 MW gross, built from December 1967 and in commercial operation from May 1972, shut down on 14 November 2003 as one of the two least economic units retired early under the 2000 phase-out agreement. Dismantling has run since 2005 and is now in phase four, in which the last contaminated plant components come out and freedom from contamination has to be demonstrated. Conventional demolition of the power station buildings has begun and is scheduled to be finished by the end of 2026.
