Kernkraftwerk Brokdorf
Construction began on the Elbe marsh in January 1976 against some of the most sustained protest in West German history, and the reactor reached commercial operation in December 1986. It ran at 89.7 percent mean availability until the final shutdown on 31 December 2021, and has since received its decommissioning permit from Schleswig-Holstein. The site has been named in reporting as a candidate for what would be the largest battery storage installation in the EU.
