St Paul's Cathedral
Old St Paul's was gutted in the Fire of 1666, and after a design process that ran from the royal warrant of 1669 through several rejected schemes, Wren's English Baroque cathedral was built from 1675 and completed in 1710. It is still the second largest church in Britain, and the dome that anchors the skyline was framed by the spires of the parish churches Wren rebuilt around it. He is buried in the building.
