St Stephen Walbrook
Wren lived at number 15 Walbrook and gave this parish particular attention, building the church between 1672 and 1679 at a cost of £7,692 on the site of the medieval church burned in 1666. The dome follows the early drawings for St Paul's, carried on carpentry framing rather than heavy masonry, so the interior has no galleries interrupting it. Thomas Strong was the mason; the spire was the work of Edward Strong the Younger.
