Hurricane Lenny (1999)

It formed on 13 November in the western Caribbean Sea and held an unusual easterly track for its entire duration, moving west to east across the Caribbean, which earned it the nickname "Wrong Way Lenny". Its inner core re-established on 16 November and it intensified rapidly over the northeastern Caribbean to peak winds of 155 mph about 21 miles south of Saint Croix in the United States Virgin Islands on the 17th, making landfall there. Before it moved through the Lesser Antilles, rough surf killed two people in northern Colombia. It brought further heavy rain to parts of the Leeward Islands hit by Hurricane Jose a month earlier and to areas struck by Hurricane Georges the previous year.
