Typhoon Guchol (2012)
The JMA put Guchol's peak at 18:00 UTC with 10-minute sustained winds of 100 knots and a central pressure of 930 hectopascals. The storm made its first landfall over southern Wakayama Prefecture at 08:00 UTC as it began its extratropical transition. Although it stayed away from the Philippines, where it was known as Butchoy, its slow movement enhanced the southwest monsoon and brought widespread heavy rain to the country.
