Typhoon Francisco (2013)
Francisco formed on 16 October east of Guam out of a pre-existing area of convection. On 19 October the JTWC upgraded it to peak 1-minute winds of 260 km/h, the equivalent of Category 5, as it intensified northwest of Guam. It produced tropical storm force wind gusts on Guam and in the Northern Mariana Islands, then turned north-northwest toward eastern Japan, which it reached on 25 October in a much weaker state, bringing heavy rain, gusty winds, rip currents and increased surf.
