Tyne Bridge

Opened on 10 October 1928 by King George V, this through arch was designed by Mott, Hay and Anderson and built by Dorman Long of Middlesbrough, the same pairing behind Sydney Harbour Bridge, which opened four years later. Construction ran from August 1925 to 25 February 1928, and Historic England listed it Grade II* on 13 January 1983 under entry 1248569. A restoration costing £32 million began in 2024, timed to reach its centenary in 2028.
